ABOUT THE FILM

Hāvā is a documentary made to showcase the efforts taken by Nepalese locals to help benefit living conditions and preserve culture inside their home village.

SYNOPSIS

We follow Thile Lama Sherpa, a Nepalese Trekking guide during a 11 day adventure inside the forgotten valleys of Nar Phu, located north of the Annapurna region. As we travel through rugged areas, we are immersed in rich displays of cultural tradition while slowly being faced with the issues of rural Nepal's poor indoor air quality.

Through Thile's life story, we learn about the repercussions of the issue and discover how his 5 year project to change air quality will impact quality of life in struggling remote areas.

Hope is found through action.

The first step is: The air we breathe.

The Himalayan Stove Project

5 year project to improve indoor air quality in Thile’s home village

GOAL: Provide modern Himalayan stoves to every house of Chiwong Khop

OBJECTIVES:

  • Reduce indoor air pollution and increase ventilation

  • Reduce environmental pollution

  • Reduce deforestation and the use of fire-wood

  • Improve health and living conditions

The end result is a smoke free household and clean environment that prevents health problems among villagers.

The project benefits more than 30 houses and 80 people in the Chiwong Khop area.


THE END GAME

Sustainable living conditions in remote areas help keep villagers involved in the development of rural Nepal without compromising culture.
